Last updated: October 2026 · Tested on: Coolmuster iCloud Backup Recovery 2.0.15, Windows (registered October 26, 2026)
Coolmuster iCloud Backup Recovery is free for one year through the vendor’s official giveaway: you enter your name and email on Coolmuster’s page, receive a license code, install the Windows app, and register it.
Who it is for: iPhone and iPad owners with a Windows PC who want to scan an iCloud backup and recover selected files. Verdict: getting the license, installing and registering took only a few minutes, and the license window showed 365 days. I did not sign in with an iCloud account, so what it recovers is Coolmuster’s description, not my result. Key number: the regular price is $19.95, and the giveaway license costs $0.
How to Get Coolmuster iCloud Backup Recovery Free for 1 Year
Open Coolmuster’s official giveaway page, enter your name, email and the captcha, click Submit, and copy the license code that appears. When I opened the page on October 27, 2026, its counter showed about 6 days left, so do not leave it for later.
Coolmuster iCloud Backup Recovery 2.0.15
Scan an iCloud backup on your PC, preview it, and recover selected files. Regular price $19.95, free through the giveaway.
Windows 11/10/8/7 95.2 MB install space 1-year license
Important note: the license code appears right after you submit the form. Copy it and save it with your email, because the register window asks for both.
Both buttons open Coolmuster’s official pages. Giveaways can end at any time. My own license ran from October 26, 2026 to October 26, 2027.
- Open the giveaway page and fill in Name, Email and the Captcha, then click Submit.
- Copy the license code from the pop-up and save it with the same email.
- Download the installer with the button above and run it.
- Click Next, keep the default folder, click Install, then Finish.
- Click the key icon at the top right, press Register, enter the email and license code, and click Register.
- Wait for the message "Your copy of the software is registered."

Install the Program
The setup is a standard Windows installer with three screens. It asks for 95.2 MB of disk space and installs to the Program Files (x86) folder by default. Download it from the vendor, as in the box above. Our Softonic test shows why third-party download portals are a bad idea.

Register the License
Use the numbers in the screenshot: the key icon (1), the Register button (2), your email (3), your license code (4), then Register (5). A confirmation window follows. Mine showed a one-year subscription from October 26, 2026 to October 26, 2027 with 365 days remaining.

Trial vs Full: What the Free License Unlocks
The trial scans and previews an iCloud backup, but only the registered version recovers data. That is the whole reason to register.
| Feature | Trial | Full (registered) |
|---|---|---|
| Scan iCloud backup | Yes | Yes |
| Preview data | Yes | Yes |
| Recover data | No | Yes |
The license is a one-year subscription, so recover what you need before it ends. I have not seen what the app does after the year is over.

iCloud Backup Recovery on PC vs Apple's Own Restore
Apple's official way to use an iCloud backup is to erase the iPhone and restore it during setup, so you get everything back or nothing. Coolmuster's tool works the other way: you sign in on a Windows PC, scan the backup, preview items and recover only the ones you pick.
- Choose this tool if you need a few files from an old backup and do not want to wipe a working phone.
- Choose Apple's restore if your phone is lost or reset and you want the whole backup back on a device.
Before You Sign In: Verification, Privacy and What I Did Not Test
The sign-in screen asks for your Apple ID and password, and it tells you to stay logged in on your iPhone so you can receive the verification information. It also lists three notes: do not connect the device to the computer during recovery, the vendor says it never stores or discloses your account information, and there is a "Forgot your Apple ID or Password?" link.
I cannot verify the privacy statement, so treat it as Coolmuster's promise. My advice: sign in only on your own PC, and change your Apple password afterwards if you feel uneasy. I did not sign in with an iCloud account, so I did not scan a backup or recover files.
Problems You May Hit and How to Fix Them
- No verification code arrives: keep an iPhone or iPad signed in with the same Apple ID nearby. If you lost access, use the "Forgot your Apple ID or Password?" link on the sign-in screen.
- Registration is rejected: paste the code instead of typing it, and use the exact email from the giveaway form.
- You closed the code pop-up: copy the code before closing it. I have not tested whether the page can show it again.
- You use a Mac: the supported systems are Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7.
- The giveaway has ended: the official page decides. Check it before you install anything.
Since you are typing an Apple ID into a desktop program, keep your PC protected first. Our guides to the ESET official trial and the Kaspersky free license offer show official ways to do it.

Final Verdict: Who Should Get It
Get it if you have an iCloud backup, use Windows, and need a few files without wiping your phone. Skip it if you use a Mac, do not want to enter your Apple ID in a desktop program, or need the whole backup restored to a device. The concrete reason to grab it now: a $19.95 program is free for 365 days while the giveaway is open.
Bottom line: a quick, clear giveaway with a useful preview-then-recover approach, held back by an untested recovery and a one-year license.
Editorial score based on my registration test and the app's published details. Recovering data from an iCloud backup was not tested.
